Hughes Aero Corp

Company Overview

Hughes Aero, Corp. actually began in the late 90’s as Chute the Breeze. Chute the Breeze was the original brain child of Scott and Lisa Hughes, which was a Powered Parachute sales and flight training service. It has been in operation for 8+ years, soloed more than 600+ pilots and assisted more than 500 + pilots in receiving their UFI, BFI, CFI and Sport Pilot certification.

Along the way, Scott and Lisa decided to build their own powered parachute. Hughes Air Aviation, LLC was formed in 2004 to manufacture the Predator.  In the first year of business the Predator powered parachute received the “Oshkosh Innovation Award in Ultralights” from the EAA.  In its second year the “Predator” received the honor of becoming the first ever Powered Parachute to win the coveted “Ultralight Grand Champion” from the EAA at Oshkosh .

As business substantially increased it became apparent that expansion, both physically and corporately, was necessary.  In June of 2006 Hughes Aero, Corp. was established and acquired the rights/patents to the “Predator” from Chute the Breeze.  Chute the Breeze was retained as the training subsidiary. Chute the Breeze is the Sport Pilot training leader with over 100 already trained or in training to meet the new requirements.

Hughes Aero, Corp. has moved into the number one spot in sales of used powered parachute and replacement chutes in the nation. We are also close to the number one spot in sales of new Powered Parachutes. Overall, the company can be characterized as a retail/wholesaler of new and used light sport aircraft and a supplier of parts and pilot training.

 Background

Powered Parachuting got its start in the mid 60’s with a few brave and innovative people like Llyod Farrin who soared with the flex winged machine built by students of Notre Dame.  It did not really start to catch on until the early 80’s when Steve Snider took the idea and made a viable aircraft.  By the 90’s a few manufactures began to spring up, and now in the 2000’s the industry has grown to be a recognized sport in aviation.  There are some companies that have risen to the challenge of integrating with the sport pilot ultralight SLSA and ELSA requirements.

We are creating an operating infrastructure with our dealers that will allow us to reach out to the world. We have built and delivered over 75+ aircraft. Hughes Aero, Corp is now fine tuning its products and services to meet the current market trends.  We will be taking full advantage of the newest internet-based technologies.

We have completed the computer aided design, (CAD), development, and tests of our “phase one, three, and four” business model.  The full release of the “Predator” has been very successful with an aircraft that out performs all of its competition.  The Predator has performance features that make it very unique.  However, our construction techniques still use proven technology that buyers are used to seeing.

Hughes Aero, Corp. is located at the Wharton Regional Airport in Wharton , Texas where we occupy a 7500 square foot hanger.  Soon we will expand to 10,000 square feet. Future growth will be in the form of additional buildings at the Wharton Airport as needs dictate.
